The WOODSON-BANNEKER-JACKSON-BEY Division 330 UNIA-ACL RC 2020 is a Division of the Parent Body UNIVERSAL NEGRO IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION and AFRICAN COMMUNITIES LEAGUE (UNIA-ACL 1929 of the World) founded by the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Since receiving its charter in 1980, Division 330 has been the premier vanguard body promoting the philosophy of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Members meet twice a month on the second and fourth Sundays of each month barring some specific interruption. Some of the activities of Division 330 include the monthly sharing of food, clothing and toiletries with the less fortunate citizens of Washington, DC.
Division 330 sponsors a monthly forum at the Umoja House in North East Washington, DC where topical issues as well as history of the African people and race matters are openly discussed for the edification of members and the public. The celebration of the birthday of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, GARVEY DAY, August 17th is an annual event among other annual celebrations such as Kwanzaa which is done every December 30th, Kwanzaa Nia.
ONE GOD ONE AIM ONE DESTINY is the international motto through which all Divisions of the UNIA-ACL rally members to the cause of righteous black redemption from the malaise brought about by white supremacist racist tyranny perpetrated on the people of Africa and African descendants scattered throughout the globe. In Washington DC, a city built by enforced free labor on enslaved Africans and their descendants, the historical vanguard Woodson-Banneker-Jackson-Bey Division #330 of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League continues the long march to the goal of self-reliance of the African peoples heralded by the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey whose spirit of resistance to the axioms of despicable white racist supremacy emboldens the membership of the UNIA-ACL Division 330 to soldier on to final victory with the added maxim of DETERMINATION, PERSEVERANCE, RESILIENCE.
The WOODSON BANNEKER JACKSON-BEY DIVISION #330 is named after Carter G. Woodson, historian and founder of Black History Month; Benjamin Banneker, inventor and contributor to the construction of Washington, D.C; and William Jackson-Bey, revered president of Division 330 who died in office and who was very instrumental in the propogation of the philosophy of Marcus Garvey and organizing black consciousness among the African masses in the Washington, DC metro area.
